June 16 – 24, 2011

Thursday June 16th
The group departs from Toronto Pearson International Airport on our flight to Reykjavik, the capital of ICELAND. Following the transfer from Keflavik International Airport by motor coach to our hotel, there will be an introductor reception to this fascinating “Land of Fire & Ice”.

Friday June 17th
After breakfast, we embark on a city tour of Reykjavik with the afternoon free to shop and enjoy points of artistic and cultural interest.

Saturday June 18 th
Today we study the social and political history of Iceland, where the ancient Viking tribes established the world’s oldest democratic parliament, and its heritage of sagas, legends and story-telling.

Sunday June 19th
A visit to the famous Blue Lagoon to learn about the ecological importance of geothermal energy and bathe in the mineral-laden therapeutic waters to renew our minds, bodies and spirits.

Monday June 20th
Today we venture into the countryside for a motor coach tour to the Dingvellin valley, with the Geysir hotsprings, the Gullfus waterfall and one of Linda’s renowned picnics enroute.

Tuesday June 21th
We join the “Midsommer” festivities where Icelanders take to the streets to celebrate 24-hours of daylight – bars never close and the party never ends.

Wednesday June 22th
After breakfast we transfer by motor coach to our guesthouse at Vik visiting the Myrdalsjokall glacier enroute.

Thursday June 23th
A morning visit to Iceland’s best folk museum at Skögar with the afternoon at leisure to enjoy the spectacular scenery followed by a “Farewell to Iceland” dinner.

Friday June 24th
After breakfast, we transfer by motor coach to Keflavik International Airport for our return flight to Toronto.
