Creativity is like an engine and sometimes you need to rest and tune the motor. It’s like driving for years without taking time to change the oil. When your work is tied into your creativity, you may judge yourself as unproductive if you ‘turn off’. For over three decades I have had the ‘pedal to the medal’ and only recently have allowed myself to shift gears, pull over and stop.
For me, this rest period enables a completely new awareness to emerge. It teaches me to be patient and allow a renewed creative energy to enter. When it does, and it will, the acceleration is thrilling.
How do you make the space in your creative process? Do you pull over and stop?
