Make your own Washi Window Dressing

Lundström fresh from her smash debut presentation ‘Washi off the Wall’, a collection of Floating walls and interior accessories for The Japanese Paper Place shared her appreciation for the versatility and endless creative applications for traditional Japanese papers in this ‘end of summer’ workshop.

Dreamy, light and durable, these papers made from renewable plant fibres, allow light to filter in to interior spaces. Linda will guide you through the process of cutting, treating with konnyaku starch, texturizing and stitching Washi into a beautiful and unique dressing for your particular window.

Participants brought the measurements of the window wanted to cover and rolled up their sleeves to complete their project in 6 hours.

Provided: a 36” x 39” piece of kozo paper, and a 39” x 6” piece of gampi, konnyaku, thread, needles, use of brushes and sewing machines.
Additional paper and a variety of rods and hooks for hanging were available for purchase.

$220.00 including lunch, materials and HST. ($195 + HST)
